  Abstract Flood-borne epidemics were feared in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina but fortunately outbreaks of diseases such as Vibrio vulnificus (cholera) and Norovirus infection were at a minimum. However, fears are emerging over the suspected lack of influenza and tetanus vaccines stockpiled for hurricane evacuee's.
